Method for evaluation of cooler for panel

(1) Japan standard

In Japan, “Room air conditioner item JIS C 9612 Yr. 1999” (revised on March 20, 2000) presently exists in JIS standard as the capacity evaluation standard in general air conditioners.

Concrete test methods are stipulated in standard that gives further details of this standard, namely “air conditioner first part: direct blow type air conditioners and heat pumps - rated performance and operation performance test method JIS B 8615-1 Yr. 1999 ”.

 

(2) Panel cooler evaluation test method - approach of each company

In these JIS standards, general household use and building use air conditioning are main subjects and importance is given to cooling capacity and large room air conditioning. Hence, measurement of panel cooler is done on the basis of these standards and each company conducts its own evaluation by test method close to the actual state for air conditioners for industrial use and control panel use.

 

(3) Capacity evaluation method of this company

As for capacity evaluation method of this company, evaluation method is established and evaluation is done as the factual capacity evaluation as control panel coolers on the basis of air enthalpy test method in concrete test method standard of room air conditioner item (JIS C 9612), “Part I: direct blow type air conditioners and heat pumps – rated performance and operation performance test method” (JIS B 8615-1).

Calculation method

Average wind speed on cooler suction side( 16 points of intersection obtained by dividing suction port vertically and horizontally into 4 sections are used as measurement points) is measured by wind speed meter, and area of suction side opening part is applied and wind quantity is calculated by dividing this value by specific volume determined from air line diagram based on the measured value of dry bulb temperature and wet bulb temperature of air on discharge side.

Enthalpy is determined from dry bulb temperature and wet bulb temperature on suction side and discharge side of the cooler and cooling capacity is determined by applying wind quantity to the difference in enthalpies on suction side and discharge side.

Calculation method Cooling on indoor side of the sample product and heat input of apparatus measuring dehumidifying capacity is made equal and capacity is determined by measuring this heat input. For calculation of dehumidifying capacity, drain water quantity discharged from cooler is measured and estimate calculation is done.

Besides this, some companies also use DIN standard approved by cooling technology standard committee( termed FNKa) of DIN standard consolidated German research center in Germany.

This includes coolers for relay boxes: item DIN 3166 standard wherein standard is given from 1st application scope to 6 items of handling manual. This explains cooling capacity evaluation done at 2 points namely outer air 30℃ and outer air 50℃.

Calculation method

In the measurement of cooling capacity, cooler is operated by arranging a thermocouple and temperature and humidity sensor at locations of temperature and humidity measurement and ambient temperature and humidity of laboratory and heater output inside evaluation box are regulated as per cooling capacity measurement conditions and measured value is recorded in stable state.

Cooling capacity value is calculated by adding heat dissipation quantity( heat absorption quantity ) of heater output evaluation box inside evaluation box in stable state under measurement condition.
