Regarding water supply

●Water supply to humidifier is generally of tap water or pure water.
●The quality of water supplied to the humidifier is according to the standards regulated by the Water Supply Act. Though the Water Supply Act confirms water quality suitable for drinking, the water contains various impurities like soluble minerals etc. These ingredients cause scale deposits during humidification process (vaporization of water) being a source of various problems.
●Scales are the deposits or crystallized hard compounds formed after exceeding the solubility limit during vaporization process caused due to the large amount of hardness components present in the supply water or the silica components present in water in case supplied from a volcanic zone. The temporary scales deposits do not get dissolved again the water leading to formation of layers inside the humidifier resulting in fall in performance of the humidifier itself. White particles are also seen suspended in air in case of water spray type humidifier.

[Pure water] means eater free form any impurities. Pure water is used in cleaning of utensils like beaker etc. or in manufacturing of reagents as a part of chemical analysis or environmental analysis.
In case of [Tap-water], positive ions like calcium or magnesium and negative ions like chlorine or nitric acid are mixed in a scarcely small amount. The ions present as impurities cause an impact.
Filtration, exchange of ions is performed and water with maximum removed ions is considered as [Pure water].
[Ultra pure water] is the one not permitting even smallest impurity and used in super LSI semiconductor manufacturing process for cleaning of circuit boards or having an important role in medical fields.
Further, extracting all the impurities present in the water (ion type, organic matter, microbes, minute particles, colloid, dissolved gases etc.) in the order of ppb ※ Note 1, ppt ※Note 2 order and theoretically achieving the state near to H2O. Water with conductivity less than 0.06μS/m is generally termed as [Ultra pure water].
Ultra pure water processed for high purity is also termed as [Hungry Water].
In other words, as the ultra pure water is water with merely no dissolved impurities, there is high possibility of impurities (metal ion types, organic matter, microbes etc.) being dissolved after coming in contact with the ultra pure water (Hungry water). When used as a substitute of a longer period in metal piping, it may cause decomposition and corrosion of pipe material etc.

*Note1) ppb: Part Per Billion. 1 part in a billion. Just for imagination it is the concentration after dissolving 1 gm of sugar in 50 m of pool.
*Note2) ppt: Part Per Trillion. 1 part in trillion. Just for imagination it is the concentration after dissolving 1 gm of sugar in water filled to capacity of Tokyo Dome.
 

Though [Water] is categorized in to various types, the classification based in conductivity is according to the one on right side.
